Double registered Appaloosa
and Colorado Rangerbred mare that was primarily used as a 4-H project by my daughter. Goes back to
Skipper W & Plaudit (both AQHA) on the sire's side, Prince Plaudit (ApHC) on the dam's side. She is
a blocky, foundation quarter horse type.
She is approx 15.1, sorrel roan with a flaxen
mane and tail, and two hind socks. Easy to work around, clips, bathes, stands for farrier and loads
with ease. Easy keeper and no vices.
This horse loves showmanship! She stops squarely
with her head level, pivots very well and backs straight. She also excels at trail, can work rope or
regular gates with finesse, does back throughs, side passes, mailboxes, 360 boxes and bridges. She
has been started on spur stopping. Skippy performed horsemanship and equitation patterns well in the
past, but I believe she will do even better with the spur stop. She has been used western in the
past, but moves much better hunt seat. I have even started her over some small cross rails, and she
has never refused one yet. Previously, she has competed and placed at the state level in Grooming
and Showmanship and horsemanship.
This is a solid mare that is comfortable in the show
pen and on the trail. We used her as a trail horse and she does well with water crossing, steep
hills and mud. Our dog accompanies us on trail rides, and she is comfortable with him running in and
out of the woods around her.
Skippy has thrown two blanketed foals for us with no
foaling trouble, and is a very attentive mother. She has been a part of our family for 11 years, and
will be sold to an approved home only. She would do best with a rider with some experience and a
balanced seat.
