"Romeo" is loved by everyone at
the barn. He's a cute black gelding with great form and he's a nice mover. We have shown over the
past 2 years (I'm a novice...I've only been riding for 3 yrs, showing for just 2 summers!) in local
shows. He's such a good boy! He does what he's asked, changes gaits quickly and easily, stops on a
dime, backs with just a gentle suggestion. He collects himself well and moves out when asked, too.
Romeo moves great off the leg and neck reins easily. In fact, you can leave his face
totally alone and "steer" with just your weight shifts in the saddle. (I jokingly call it his "power
steering".) He is very comfortable at the jog and lope. He knows his job, and is eager to please.
I put 6 months of training into him last year when we were both learning one another. I
had my lessons, and he had his. :o)
As a result, his mouth is sensitive and responsive. He
bends fully to the right and left (very supple at the poll and neck). He sidepasses and will do
flying lead changes. He's really quite a wonderful horse.
Romeo is excellent for the
farrier, stands well in cross ties, trailers very well. Super ground manners. He gets turned out
with the rest of the geldings (6 of them) with no trouble. Out of the group of them, he's the
easiest to catch in the pasture.
We have shown Western pleasure and halter (local
shows). He has been ridden English pleasure and hunter. The photos attached are all Western, but he
would make a beautiful, eye catching English show horse. (I've always believed that in his heart
he's an English horse because of his stride and the way he naturally moves.) We've done awesome with
Western showing, but to be honest the only reason he's been a Western pleasure horse is because I
love bling. (Hey - at least I'm honest!) He is on half lease right now and the person with that
lease rides and shows English on him. I will post video of him riding English at request.
"Romeo" is a great all-around horse for anyone from a novice to a more advanced rider. AQHA
registered with lines to Coosa Lad.
I'm sad to part with my teacher (Romeo taught me to
ride, essentially), however, my daughter is now showing and has her own pony. Since Mom can't afford
to board 2 horses, Romeo needs to go to a good home. (The things we do for our kids!) He is sure to
make someone a very, very happy rider.
